This is a ending that I wrote to a book called The Bronze Bow, if you have never read this book than you will not be able to understand this ending. Those who have read, it I hope you like this.
Chapter Twenty-Five of The Bronze Bow
End to Bad, Beginning of Good
“Really?!”, Marcus exclaimed, “Do you mean it?!”
“Yes.” Daniel answered.
“How will I be sure that you aren’t tricking me into my death?” Marcus asked.
“Just trust me.” Daniel explained calmly, but seeing that Marcus was still unsure he went on to say, “OK, OK. You are personally allowed by my word to enter this house to talk to Leah.”
While getting off his horse, Marcus was still unsure about entering the house. The way he walked made him look like Daniel’s house was a trap. After he walked inside he saw Leah, she looked so happy as if she was the happiest person in the world. He looked at her and said solemnly, “I have to leave... right now. But I will be back for you. Some day. I will come back.”
“Wait!” Leah yelled, “I have something to give to you. Here.” She hands him the headdress with the coin in it, “This will hopefully help you remember me.”
“Thank you Leah.” Marcus exclaimed with delight, “I will remember you forever. Goodbye.”
Marcus left the house with a smile on his face not knowing the next battle would be his last.
Daniel walked back into the house with a happy feeling about what just happened “Thank you for letting me see Marcus. It means alot to me.” Leah said to Daniel.
Right when Daniel was about to say “your welcome”, Thacia came running in. “Rosh has gone to far. He just stole our weapon supply from the tower!”
“That wretched man. You're right, he has gone to far.” Daniel exclaimed, “Ohhh.
He’s going to get it. Meeting in the tower in five minutes. Thacia, get all the recruits.”
“Okay. I’ll do that right away.” Thacia answered while running out.
“Can I come too.” Leah said hopefully.
“No. No. No.” Daniel explained scared, “You can’t even hold a sword.”
“Yes I can.” Leah answered as she pulled a sword out of a sheath on her right side and twirling it in a figure.
“Where did you get that?” Daniel exclaimed.
“I made it myself.” Leah said calmly. “You know when you were pounding your hammer everyday, I was watching. You probably saw me. You probably thought that I was just looking at you. I was actually looking at the hammer and how it pounded and when you put it in the fire and when at just the right moment stuck it in the water. I decided one day that I might need to fight so I took some money and bought some steel.”
“So that’s where all the money went.” Daniel exclaimed.
“Please. Let me finish. So I bought the steel and started on my project. I worked on it while you were at the tower. I was really tired after each time so that is why I wasn't very fast with my loom. I finished my project after about seven days so then I started working on the basics, you know, slice, stab, and parrying. Then after about another two weeks I could fight a man and be able to win so I went on to the expert moves like that figure eight. Then I got sick so I had to hide it behind the cucumbers in the backyard. After I got better right before Marcus came in I resheathed it on my right side. I also found out in my practice that I am left handed.”
“Wow, you're better at that than any of my recruits. We need you in this attack. But don’t kill Rosh if you have the chance. We are going to try to tie him up and take him to the Romans for them to crucify him or something.” Daniel explained opened mouthed to Leah.
“OK. We must be off. We are supposed to be at the tower in about two minutes.” Leah exclaimed excitedly.
“Let’s go.” Daniel said.
The two of them ran to the tower just in time to start the meeting.
“Guys! Be quiet!” Daniel yelled to get the boys attention, “OK, today I have decide to fight Rosh. He has gone to far. Are any of you interested in going and capturing Rosh? All in favor say I.”
A chorus of “I”’s around the room are heard. “OK.” Daniel said surprised by of how all the men who said “I”, “Here is my plan. We all stand behind trees in front of Rosh’s cave and throw a bunch of rocks into the cave to get them dispersed. Then, as the first men come out with our weapons we will have someone up right above the cave who will push small boulders down to knock the men unconscious. Hopefully when Rosh sees that he won't come out. Then we will pick up the defiled daggers and javelins and you nineteen men will walk back to the tower and drop off the daggers and javelins and go home. After it is all over I will explain to you what I did.”
The men walked to the mountain while some infidels on the side of the road were whispering blaspheme furtively. Once they got to the bottom of the mountain Daniel explained, “OK, we got this far. From now on NO talking, NO loud footsteps, NO swishing tunics. We are going to be on stealth mode for the rest of the time, even going back down the mountain.”
A multitude of “OK”s were heard through the trees. Theband of men started up the mountain as quietly as they could. In fact, you could not have even heard the leaves crunching under their feet. Once and awhile a kid blew it and might have stepped on and dead leave.
Once they got there all the men got ready behind a tree to throw their rocks. On Daniels signal all the boys threw their rocks at the cave. Almost all the rocks flew through the air and went in the cave making an echoing sound. Joktan was at his post with a few small boulders beside him.
After about a minute about seven men came running out not knowing that right when they got out they would be hit in the head with large rocks which would knock them out making the job was a lot more easy than if Joktan had missed. All the recruits picked up the weapons and left.
On their way back, a bear suddenly appeared out of nowhere all the recruits were really scared. They started to panic right when the bear swung out his paw and caught hold of one of them. The bear gulped the man whole which angered one of the recruits so much that he yelled, “How dare you eat my friend.” and plunged a javelin into the bear. It fell dead with a loud moan.
After that there was no more distractions except for the small fight with a band of restless boys, but that’s another story.
During that time Daniel and Leah walked slowly into the tunnel. Once they were engulfed into the darkness they could see a shadow of a figure with sword in hand. Leah ran up to him while swirling her sword. She swung her sword down on him knowing that he would block it. CLANG! The sound of their fighting echoed through the cave. CLANG! CLANG! During that time Daniel snuck behind Rosh and at just the right moment sliced a scar that would stay with him for the rest of his short life.
Rosh fell with a scream of agony. Daniel took out a piece of rope and tied his hands. Even though Rosh did not have a weakness through kindness, he did have a weakness of pain. Whenever Rosh got hurt, back when Daniel was in the cave, all of Rosh’s men had to bandage it up. Now, there was no one to help him. He was alone. Scarred. His face was in tears as he was tied up.
Leah and Daniel dragged his bloody body out of the cave and into the open air. Out of his gritting teeth he managed the words, “You'll pay for all your doing. You're making a big mistake.”
“I know what I’m doing, and what you are doing. I am going back to my smithy and relax while you get crucified by the Romans.” Daniel explained cheerfully.
After that remark, Rosh fell unconscious. He was quiet for the rest of trip even after he awoke.
Once in the city, Daniel found a legion of soldiers and handed Rosh over to the Centurion. After that he went back home to relax.
After a little, Daniel went out to find a crowd of men and women. He also saw Rosh on the right side of three crosses. He walked towards the crowd to watch Rosh be crucified. Once he got closer he could see that the criminal in the middle was Jesus.
He was about to yell at the Roman and attack them, but when he moved closer he saw the expression on Jesus’ face, it was a peaceful calm look, as if he were not being crucified.
He walked back inside to find Thacia sitting down right beside his normal spot. Then he remembered the ring in his pocket that he had for her. He got next to her, held up the ring and said, “Will you marry me?”
Thacia answered, “Yes, I would love to.”
They both embraced into a hug.
Then the next day Thacia brought her dowry to the wedding. They were so happy about it they almost kissed before the minister said they could.
But there was still one more problem, Leah. They did not know what to do with Leah. Leah had to make a decision to stay with Daniel and Thacia or go to stay by herself.
It took about three days before they got her answer to stay with Thacia and Daniel.
After a few days, Leah had a job as a blacksmith/weaver and earned a bunch of money.
After a few months, Leah had enough money to make a house next to Danieland Thacia’s house.
After a few years, the three of them had saved enough money to buy a ticket to Rome.
After a few more years, as the best blacksmith in the city, they had enough money to buy a nice big mansion.
During that time, Leah found the right groom for her and lived in a nice big house beside their smithy. Leah’s husband was amazed of their story how they would live for God’s victory.
Every year they had an annual God’s victory party and invited all their friends. And every year during that party they would have a toast. A toast to God’s victory. For God’s victory.
The End
